Software piracy and GuancheMOS

Software piracy practices represent a big teeth in the income of software business, specially when we talk about Shareware business where the price per license is very low, and the sales of the product or products are all the income source for a Micro ISV.

In fact, this is the Piracy Rate by region (2006, source: BSA):

North America 22%
Western Europe 34%
Asia Pacific 55%
Middle East/Africa 60%
Central/Eastern Europe 68%
Latin America 66%
European Union 36%
Worldwide 35%

In this scenario there is a real need for a software protection scheme oriented to make harder the proliferation of illegal serial numbers or even the creation of keygens for legal software.

GuancheMOS is one of such solutions, being able to generate serial numbers anchored to a name/application pair, easy to implement in any development. This way, you will be able to track the source of the serial numbers generated for your applications.
